Walking the Walk: Radish Joins the B Corp™ Movement

If you haven’t heard, there’s a new type of business in town (and spreading across the globe!) — the B Corporation. Think of what Fair Trade is to a bag of coffee, or what LEED certification is to a building, but then magnify that to the way an entire business operates (woah!).

What is a Certified B Corporation®?

B Corporations are leaders of the global movement of people using business as a force for good™, and Radish Lab is proud to announce that we’ve joined the movement and officially became a Certified B Corporation®!

Today, there are over 2,200 Certified B Corps around the globe, including famous names like Patagonia, Ben & Jerry’s, and Seventh Generation. We’re proud to join these incredible companies in redefining success in business, so that one day everyone uses business to drive positive social change.

We were certified by the non-profit B Lab® to meet rigorous (and we mean it) standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Through the process, we’ve evaluated how our practices impact all of our stakeholders, including our employees, our community, the environment, and our customers. Why did Radish become a B Corp™?

From the beginning, Radish’s mission has been to use the power of design to amplify the work of people and projects that are trying to change the world for the better. With our social impact focus, it was only natural to go through the certification process and really show people that we practice what we preach. The certification is imperative to ensuring all our stakeholders that we have their best interests, and the interests of their beneficiaries, at heart.

“The best thing about Radish’s B Corp™ process was that it came from the team’s desire to show more accountability for our business practices,” says Alana Range, Radish’s Creative Director and co-founder.

Just as our design process requires us to understand project goals and how we can accomplish them using real analytics, our business practices also hinge on measurable impact. Radish knows the importance of creating benchmarks and striving for improvement, and we plan to do that as a B Corp™. While continuously working to make ourselves an even better company, we want to be part of a movement that inspires more businesses to follow in our footsteps.

We imagine a world in which companies are not just guided by generating large profit margins, but also considering their role in the state of the environment, the wellbeing of their workers, and the impact on their customers and communities. Don’t get us wrong, generating profit is good (especially as a small business), but it should not be the sole measure of success in running a company.
